About COA

In 1995 the leading ear, nose, and throat physicians in Colorado Springs formally merged and formed Colorado Otolaryngology Associates.  This group practice started with four locations.  Drs. Hohengarten, Pruitt, and Romett practiced at Carefree and Academy, near Penrose Community Hospital; and Drs. Olson, Ernster, and Knox practiced on Cascade Avenue.  At first the practices maintained separate locations; however, in May 2000 the practices were combined in a single location at the Audubon Campus in a beautiful new building.

Merging these individual practices -- doctors, staff, patients and all -- has been a monumental undertaking but one that has resulted in better patient care.  Colorado Otolaryngology Associates, P. C., now consists of eight otolaryngology, head and neck specialty physicians augmented by four clinical audiologists and an audiology technician and boasts a second location at its NorthCare facility near the new St. Francis Medical Center at Woodmen and Powers.

It is the largest ENT group practice in the state of Colorado and is dedicated to promoting advancements in clinical practice as well as the best care possible for our patients.  To accomplish that, we employ state-of-the-art technology to give us the latest information and furnish high quality service to our patients.  This technology includes integrated billing, medical records, and diagnostic equipment.  Very early on, we adopted an electronic medical record system which puts information at our fingertips, eliminating chart search delays that can bog down the patient care process.

We see approximately 700 patients per week in our office and have expanded our practice to include clinical research trials as well as allergy testing and treatment.

Over the years we've become recognized as the premier ENT practice in the state of Colorado as well as gaining a national reputation for excellence.  We have been recognized in two of the past three years as an MGMA Best Practice in areas of efficiency, productivity, management, and patient satisfaction.
